Not a week goes by without Manchester United being linked with a host of new names and one of the latest to enter the gossip columns is Ibrahima Konate.
The 20-year-old came through the youth system at French second-tier club Sochaux and played half a season of senior football, aged just 17, before joining RB Leipzig in 2017.
Over the next two years he featured in 44 Bundesliga matches and had become Julien Nagelsmann’s first-choice centre-back by the start of the 2019/20 season.
After playing in each of the first five games of the season - in which RB Leipzig were undefeated, conceding just three goals - Konate picked up an injury that has kept him sidelined since.
