But away from the hit BBC show, Charlotte, 60, went through a devastating ordeal after being misdiagnosed with a life-threatening condition.
Thirteen years ago, Charlotte was told she had lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), a cystic lung disease that primarily affects women, and can have a huge impact on the lives of those suffering from it.The average life expectancy following diagnosis is between 20 and 30 years, but many of those with this condition require a lung transplant after 10 years.
However, during surgery for a collapsed lung four years ago, doctors realised that Charlotte didn't have LAM after all. Speaking to The Sun, Charlotte expressed her relief: "They had to do an operation this time and they discovered that I am very lucky.
