A by-election to replace former Shotts representative Tommy Cochrane on North Lanarkshire Council is scheduled to take place in November.The Wishaw Press told last month how the independent councillor for the Fortissat ward had decided to stand down with immediate effect, saying he was unable to juggle his elected role and his work as a planning consultant.Council officials now say a poll to fill the seat is expected to take place on November 19, the same day as a poll in the Bellshill ward of Thorniewood, where a vacancy was created by Steven Bonnar standing down from the authority following his election as an MP.The latter ballot was originally due to be held next month, but has been delayed due to the impact of coronavirus.
