The British Soap Awards will not be held for the first time in its 21 year history, it has been confirmed.The awards ceremony has been a favourite amongst soap fans since its inception in 1999, but will not take place this year due to the coronavirus crisis.
Hosted by Phillip Schofield since 2006, the awards show celebrates the best in British soap operas — with EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Doctors and their stars going head to head in a number of categories.
Usually taking place at the beginning of June, the organisers have made the decision to cancel the ceremony amid the pandemic currently sweeping the globe.
