Piers Morgan accused a minister for ‘making it up as she goes along’ over an inquiry led by the government into PPE shortages in 2016.
The Good Morning Britain host grilled Victoria Atkins about personal protective equipment ‘failings’ - which have been highlighted in a Panorama report - and she faltered when he asked her a very specific question.
He asked her if she had ever heard of Exercise Cygnus - a 2016 simulation into how we would cope in a global pandemic, which revealed that we were chronically short of PPE.
But the minister for safeguarding admitted she had not heard of it, before attempting to do a U-turn saying she “did not know the name of the exercise but I do know about the exercise itself”.
