Covid crisis sees three times more food banks than McDonald's on Scots high streets
food banks as McDonald’s restaurants, research has found.The Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN) has said new analysis to be published shows there are 165 venues where the public can donate food.In addition, there are 129 food banks run by the Trussell Trust charity, bringing the total to 294. It’s feared the number may be even higher.Fast-food giant McDonald’s has 95 outlets in Scotland.IFAN’s Sabine Goodwin said: “This is an incredibly depressing statistic that shows how prevalent food banks are across Scotland, many more than McDonald’s restaurants we see on most high streets and in shopping centres.
