£1billion contract to tend to the needs of asylum seekers, placed the woman in a filthy apartment “not fit for a dog”.Volunteers rallied to help the woman, known as Sara, clean the Glasgow flat and replace a mattress and couch covered in stains.One volunteer, Lisa Lee, said the stench in the flat was unbearable. She added: “Before even stepping into the flat, the first thing I saw was that the front door was covered in what has clearly been eggs thrown at it.“That was the doorstep welcome – and inside the flat was stinking and full of damp and mould.
