Michael Stansfield, aged in his 50s, fell ill in Brabyns Park, Marple Bridge, on March 23. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died, police said.
GMP said his death was being treated as suspicious. A woman, aged 31, was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault in connection with the incident.
She has since been released under investigation, a spokesperson for GMP confirmed. A file in relation to Mr Stansfield's death has been passed to Stockport Coroners' Court, a spokesperson said.
