iOS - Android Richard was part of a construction team doing work on the new Rothera Wharf as part of the Rothera Research Station Modernisation programme.The Rothera Research Station is the UK Antarctic hub for frontier science and is being upgraded over the next decade to stay at the forefront of climate, biodiversity and ocean research.This comprehensive modernisation includes a new wharf to accommodate the new larger polar ship, Sir David Attenborough.In winter 2020, Richard spent 32 days aboard the MS Island Sky, travelling from Harwich via Las Palmas, then headed for the Falklands and from there towards Antarctica going through Drakes Passage.An easier airplane journey wasn’t possible due to COVID and daily temperature checks of those
