A Blantyre man and his two brothers are preparing for one of the toughest challenges of their lives.But Jim Owens and his younger siblings John and Gary this week insisted that their seven-day trek up 19,340ft Mount Kilimanjaro won’t come close to the health battles their loved ones have faced.Their dad James had cancer which left him requiring a kidney transplant, and the siblings watched as their father struggled through gruelling treatment and dialysis.Gary’s partner Helen was devastated after her mum’s life was cut short by cancer at the age of 61, while several other relatives have lost their lives to cancer.He said: “Cancer is a terrible disease and can affect everyone at some point in their life.
