PUP have shared a new song called ‘Matilda’ alongside details of a UK and Ireland headline tour.The track will appear on the Toronto punk band’s fourth album ‘THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND’, which is released on April 1 via BMG/Rise Records (pre-order from here).Following on from previous singles ‘Robot Writes A Love Song’ and ‘Waiting’, PUP’s latest track ‘Matilda’ was inspired by frontman Stefan Babcock’s “favourite guitar” of the same name.“She was a gift from my friend Ryan, after watching me accidentally break the only guitar I owned in the middle of a long tour,” Babcock said. “I had no money to buy a replacement, and Ryan’s act of kindness is up there on my list of ‘nicest things anyone’s ever done for me’.“I played Matilda nonstop for 7 years at every PUP show, even when my bandmates started complaining that she sounded like shit.

PUP have shared details of their fourth album, ‘THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND’, and with it have released the single ‘Robot Writes A Love Song’.‘THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND’ arrives on April 1 via BMG/Rise Records and is available to pre-order here. It follows 2019’s ‘Morbid Stuff‘.The album was recorded and mixed over the course of five weeks last summer in Grammy Award-winning producer Peter Katis’ “bat-filled mansion in Connecticut”.According to press material, the record hears the punk band incorporate new instruments including piano, synths, horns and more for the first time while locked down to record.Remote collaborations came from Sarah Tudzin of Illuminati Hotties, Kathryn McCaughey of NOBRO, Mel St-Pierre of Casper Skulls, and Erik Paulson of Remo Drive.‘Robot Writes A Love Song’ was written in 15 minutes, with singer Stefan Babcock recording his vocals in the backseat of his car. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s son’s band Ultra Q have shared a new single – listen to ‘Bowman’ below.The California-based four piece are fronted by Jakob Armstrong and include brothers Enzo and Chris Malaspina and Kevin Judd.The group, who have recently signed to Royal Mountain Records – the same label as Mac DeMarco, Alvvays, Orville Peck and others, have also unveiled details of their third EP, ‘Get Yourself A Friend’, which arrives on November 19.The new video for the track can be seen here:Armstrong and bandmate Enzo wrote the song in 2019 before revisiting it this year.
