'Gone far too soon' RAF hero named locally as victim of Highland horror motorbike crash
RAF hero.We told last night how emergency crews raced to the one-vehicle crash on the A836 in Castletown’s Main Street in the Highlands.The crash is believed to have happened between 3am and 3.20am on Sunday.The 30-year-old driver of the black Aprila SX125 motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene.It is now understood that the tragic death was of avionics engineer Marc Mackenzie and took place in his own home village.The Thurso Academy pupil had forged a career in the air force where he was an engineer, latterly based at its base at LossiemouthAfter leaving the service, he lived in Glasgow for a short spell before returning north about four years ago to start work with Ashley Anne’s in Wick.
