After seven seasons of Love Island, it seems the relationship between Irish viewers and the reality show has gone a bit stale, with this week’s finale of the show attracting almost 100,000 less views than two years ago.
Figures reveal that the final, broadcast on Virgin Media on Monday, drew 299,400 viewers. This is a significant drop on its peak viewing figures here in 2019, when more than 372,000 tuned in to see Limerick’s Greg O’Shea walk away with the title and half of the £50,000 prize.
These figures come after Caroline Flack’s heartbroken mother accused the ITV show of being ‘hypocritical’ for sacking her when their own producers encourage contestants to row to attract viewers.
