Apple teased its upcoming iOS 18 software, hinting at features that some say reek of infidelity...The tech behemoth unveiled at the WorldWide Developers Conference yesterday (June 10) a slew of new capabilities that iPhone aficionados can expect to enjoy later this year.
These enhancements include the ability to transcribe phone conversations, advanced photo-editing tools, and unprecedented customisation options for the home screen.iMessages is set to get an overhaul too, introducing the ability to schedule messages to be sent later and reply to texts with any emoji or sticker of choice.
Yet, it's a novel privacy function designed to "empower users" that's sparked controversy, with critics labelling it a "cheater's paradise".In their press statement, Apple claimed iOS 18 will offer "peace of mind" to those seeking to keep certain information, including apps and notifications, under wraps.
They elaborated: "Users can now lock an app; and for additional privacy, they can hide an app, moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder. "When an app is locked or hidden, content such as messages or emails within the app is concealed from search, notifications, and elsewhere throughout the system."While the update might be applauded by those looking to bolster security on their banking apps, there are concerns it could also be exploited for nefarious purposes. On X (formerly Twitter), a number of iPhone users voiced their concerns the privacy update could potentially facilitate infidelity.
