Sons Of The Forest has received its first major patch since launching in Early Access, with developer Endnight Games adding a hang glider, a “mid game” boss fight, and more.Patch 1 was released last night (March 9) and includes a number of new items and features for players to dig up.In terms of new content, the patch introduces binoculars and hang gliders for players to use while exploring, along with the ability to build defensive wall gates at their base.On the topic of bases, players can now lock their doors and grab small furniture they have built.While those changes should prove helpful to players, other additions will make Sons Of The Forest much more challenging. Survivors will now run into a “mid game boss fight” in the island’s food bunker, while regular cannibals now have the ability to jump out from trees to attack players.Additionally, cannibal villages can now utilise lookout towers, making it harder for players to infiltrate or escape from the settlements.Finally, Endnight Games has teased the addition of “some additional story elements,” though has left the details for players to discover in-game.Outside of new features, the first big patch for Sons Of The Forest also brings a long list of balance tweaks and bug fixes.

Sons Of The Forest have found a way to clone and immortalise their companions.PC Gamer reports that user CallMeSlinky created a mod allowing a debug console in Songs of Forest.Reddit user jrm850 then discovered that the mod allows for the duplication of NPC companion Kelvin, after some javascript editing.The debug console allows users to use the command “addcharacter Robby 1” to create another Kelvin.“I can put as many as I want in theory, but if you put too many it can start to cause FPS issues. Endnight Games has announced that its upcoming first-person survival horror game Sons Of The Forest has been delayed into next year.In a new Twitter post yesterday (August 31), the developer shared a message to fans confirming that the game has been delayed to give the team time “to complete the polish we feel is needed.”“Due to the scope of our new game Sons Of The Forest, it has been hard to pinpoint an exact release date, and today we have to delay one last time,” it said.Sons Of The Forest will now launch on February 23, 2023 and will be priced at £25.84 ($29.99).The game is a direct sequel to the 2014 title The Forest which followed Eric LeBlanc trying to find his son Timmy after their plane crashes. In the first game, the player had to adapt to their environment, scavenge for food, and fight off cannibalistic enemies.In Sons Of The Forest, the story will follow a character who has been “sent to find a missing billionaire on a remote island” but finds themselves “in a cannibal-infested hellscape.”This isn’t the first time Sons Of The Forest has been delayed.
