Police appeal after female cyclist seriously hurt in horror road smash

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a female cyclist was seriously hurt in a road crash. The 40-year-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock for treatment after the incident which happened at around 10.35am on Sunday November 29 on the A78 near Loans.

A Vauxhall Vivara van collided with the woman. The driver of the van was unhurt.Constable Gordon Stewart of the Road Policing Unit in Irvine said: “We would be keen to speak to anyone who was driving on the A78 around that time on Sunday morning to get in touch if you saw the collision or either the cyclist or the van beforehand.“We would be especially keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage.”.
