Afghan families will be offered homes in North Ayrshire to escape danger after assisting UK military
Two families from Afghanistan are to be urgently housed in North Ayrshire to keep them safe from the Taliban.They are due to arrive before September.Thousands of workers from the country who helped the UK military, mostly as interpreters, need to flee for their own safety.Ruling Labour councillors unanimously voted to take part in the Afghan Relocation Scheme at a recent North Ayrshire Council cabinet meeting.Commenting on how the council will host two families, head of physical environment Yvonne Baulk said: “That enables us to strike a balance between the pressure we have on our own housing system and people who have been on the waiting list alongside being able to help people who need our support from other parts of the world.”The
