Ayrshire art teacher painted portraits of NHS heroes working on the coronavirus frontline while battling Covid herself.Karin Hepburn paid tribute to healthcare workers after hearing about the #portraitsfornhsheroes campaign at the start of lockdown.It was the brainchild of Thomas Croft, who urged artists to paint free portraits of NHS staff to show gratitude for their efforts during the pandemic.Now Karin’s work takes pride of place in the homes of the surgeons, doctors and the district nurse she captured on canvas.A part-time teacher at Kilmarnock’s Grange Academy, the 52-year-old said: “I thought that as an artist, taking part in the portrait campaign would be a good way for me to give something back to the NHS who were battling to save
