Rhodes tourists landing at Manchester on emergency TUI flight home speak of nightmare 48 hours
Tourists caught up in the emergency evacuation of Rhodes after wildfires tore across the Greek island have told of their ordeal after landing at Manchester Airport on Monday morning. Around 19,000 people have been taken to safety, the Athens government said, after flames which began six days ago as record temperatures hit Europe intensified in the south east of the island.
