Tortoises stolen from pet shop in Motherwell following targeted late night break-in
Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.Helpless animals were left to die in freezing temperatures after callous thieves broke into a pet shop to steal tortoises.The break-in took place after the window was smashed at the Fin Room in Albert Street, Motherwell, at some point overnight on Friday.The stolen animals included 15 tortoises, which sell for £125 each, three geckos and two orchid mantises were also missing. The geckos were later reportedly discovered in woods in Coltness.Disgusted shop owner Danielle Jordan said: “They seemed to know what they were doing, they cut the wires on our CCTV camera and smashed the window and took 15 tortoises and a vivarium to put them in.
