Oprah Winfrey was forced to miss a scheduled appearance on CBS this week after she was hospitalised over a "very serious" illness.
According to a close friend, the talk show host had to be put on an IV after "stuff was coming out both ends".The 70 year old was due to feature on CBS Mornings on Tuesday, 11 June to promote the book Familiaris by David Wroblewski, the latest addition to her renowned Oprah's Book Club.
However, show anchor and close friend Gayle King informed viewers of Oprah's absence. "She had some kind of stomach thing - stomach flu - stuff was coming out of both ends," Gayle candidly revealed.
Adding: "Won't get too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV, it was a very serious thing." Gayle expressed hope that her friend wouldn't mind her sharing details of her illness and reassured: "She will be okay." Despite Oprah's absence, David still appeared on the show to promote his book, reports the Mirror.
