When he arrived at the pick-up point on Appleby Close at around 2:15am, a man later identified to be Garside got in the passenger seat and, when asked where he was going, pulled out a knife and pointed it towards the driver as he began to shout.The driver grabbed hold of the knife and a struggle began in which a judge said there was a “real risk he could have been stabbed.”A second man, now known to be Sayers, then opened the driver's door and began demanding money.He grabbed a money pouch from the driver’s door, which contained the driver's takings for the night and some change totalling £150, as well as the key from his ignition.
