Unseen portrait of Queen from 19 years ago unveiled to mark Platinum Jubilee
A never-before-seen portrait of the Queen has been unveiled in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee. The image was captured by Robert Munday and was presented publicly for the first time by the photographer as he launched his exhibition of light sculptures at Dorchester Collection’s 45 Park Lane in London. The new portrait, titled Platinum Queen: Felicity, was taken in 2004 and shows the monarch flashing a knowing smirk in the midst of sharing a joke with confidante and senior dresser, Angela Kelly, during a test shot organised by Munday. The photo session had been set up to gather images for the first official 3D hologram of the Queen, 95, and lead to the offhand moment that the public doesn’t usually get to see.
