Scottish Motor Racing Club chief to retire
AFTER nearly 30 years of service, Sandy Denham has announced he will retire as chairman and as a director of the Scottish Motor Racing Club on Hogmanay.Vic Covey Jnr will take over the role of chairman, with chief marshal Richard Burrell becoming vice-chairman.Sandy has played a key role in the club over the years – boosting its presence in the wider motorsport community and working successfully on plans to attract new drivers.He ensured a number of SMRC championships have featured on British Touring Car Championship weekends at Knockhill in Fife.He was also instrumental in developing the club’s highly popular MINI Cooper Cup back in 2003 and, more recently, in getting the Scottish C1 Cup off the ground.The latter has been hugely beneficial
