An "October surprise" rocked the Georgia Senate race earlier this month with the allegation that Republican candidate Herschel Walker paid for a girlfriend's abortion in 2009, which he has flatly denied. Walker, who has pushed a staunch pro-life platform on the campaign trail, has been accused by his liberal critics of being a hypocrite while Republicans have largely circled the wagons.  The RealClearPolitics average of polls has his Democratic opponent, incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, up three points as the race has largely tightened in recent weeks.

"Real Time" host Bill Maher closed his show on Friday by marveling at how Herschel Walker can be supported by the Republican Party.  "Someone must explain Herschel Walker and how in a supposedly sophisticated country a person with his resume could ever be elected to office," Maher said. "For the past month, there's been a lot written about how Republicans standing behind a guy like Walker means they've lost all sense of integrity.

Atlanta, GA – A first and final face-off between Georgia Senate candidates Friday night ended with each man hoping it was enough to bring undecided voters into their corners to avoid a runoff.  The long-awaited debate between Senator Raphael Warnock and former professional football star Herschel Walker touched on a wide range of issues, including inflation – the top issue for Georgia voters at 25%, according to the latest Fox News Poll. Sen. Warnock said, "[Walker] said he would not have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act and I think he should tell the people of Georgia why he thinks they should have expensive insulin and why the pharmaceutical companies should be able to charge us whatever they like." Walker bit back quickly, saying, "I believe in reducing insulin, but at the same time, you've got to eat, right?" He then said, "you have to get food prices down and you've got to get gas down, so they can go get insulin." In perhaps one of the most unusual moments of the night, Walker pulled out a prop when his opponent brought up a controversy that surfaced early on in the campaign.

Republican Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker's campaign fired political director Taylor Crowe on suspicion of leaking to members of the media, two Republican sources with knowledge of the events confirmed to Fox News Digital. The decision comes a month before the 2022 midterm election, with Walker responding to a report that he urged an unnamed former girlfriend to get an abortion, and reimbursed her $700 for the procedure. Walker denies the report.
