Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.A Hamilton man who assaulted and robbed his own mother has avoided a prison sentence.George Loudon was instead placed under supervision for a year when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.He was also ordered to do 75 hours of unpaid community work.Loudon, 30, of Burnbank Gardens, admitted attacking his mother, Elaine, at her home in Carlisle Road, Hamilton, on March 22 last year.He also admitted smashing a lamp and a mobile phone.The court heard Loudon grabbed his mum by the neck and wrists, pushed and pulled her about and forced her to open a safe and give him a quantity of cash.Defence agent Jackson Bateman said Loudon was remorseful.
