X FACTOR star Ash Holmes pulled off a rare move on the show when she ditched her band NQ for a new group. The singer, who was 21 at the time, was booted off the show but returned to join Simon Cowell's imaginatively-named New Girl Band.

The group never took off - but five years on Ash is still a performer and a presenter today. She posts Instagram where she has a huge fanbase and describes herself as a "performing monkey/ full time fool".

New Girl Band was put together by media mogul Simon just days earlier, after all the girls were booted off the Boot Camp weeks earlier.
