Work on a partially built skate park has stopped after the firm delivering it went into liquidation. Construction of the £225,000 ‘wheeled sports’ park in Clarence Park Bury, which would cater for skate boarding, BMX riding and scooters, began in June and the area has been cleared in readiness for ramps and other equipment to be installed.

However, activity at the site stopped last month with Bury Council then ‘using every means possible’ to contact The Freestyle Collective, the firm in charge of the project.

The council has now said The Freestyle Collective had gone into voluntary liquidation in August and they were looking to appoint new contractors to pick up the remaining work on the project.

Plans for the new proposals agreed earlier this year after a previous skate park at Clarence Park shut two years ago after falling into disrepair and being vandalised.
