Woman in court accused of murder after man found dead in Tameside

A woman accused of murder has appeared before a judge and could go on trial in the autumn. Katie Yeomans, 27, appeared at Manchester Crown Court this morning (Friday) after being charged with the murder of Rees Howarth.

Mr Howarth, 28, died after police were called to reports of a 'domestic disturbance' at a property in Hyde, Tameside at about 2:55pm on Sunday. (April 23) Ms Yeomans was charged on Tuesday and appeared before magistrates the following day.

Now she has appeared before the Honorary Recorder of Manchester, Judge Nicholas Dean KC. The judge set a trial date for October. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community She will next appear in court to enter a plea in June.

The court was told that the trial could last up to three weeks. Ms Yeomans, of Thorsby Avenue, Hyde, appeared in court via video link and appeared visibly emotional during the short hearing.
