A woman desperately clung on for her life as her horrified boyfriend watched on after falling 80ft down the side of a waterfall.

Cara Sutton and her boyfriend James visited Coed-y-Brenin forest in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, to get some fresh air after she had just recovered from Covid, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The couple were mountain biking and stopped near a bridge to stretch their legs. They then decided to walk up the side of the waterfall nearby but as Cara walked up the steep incline she slipped on one of the rocks. After falling, she laid in the ravine with a fractured spine for four hours as people came to her aid. The pharmacist, who works at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, said: "My boyfriend James and I had already planned a trip to Wales in the van he’d done up and we’d got a few different hotels booked and were going to end up by the beach in Barmouth. "The day the accident happened was only my second one out of isolation. “We were mountain biking and had stopped near a bridge to stretch our legs and decided to walk up the side of the waterfall nearby. "It was only a short walk but it was a steep incline and I slipped on one of the rocks.
