Winning designs of the annual SHEIN X Challenge showcased in the SHEIN X Runway Show in Paris

On 8 June, Paris saw fashionistas flocking to the SHEIN X Runway Show, where the global fashion, beauty, and lifestyle e-retailer revealed 78 stunning new looks by up-and-coming designers on the theme of ‘Endless Summer.’ The show also offered a glimpse of the very first collection from newcomer Amy Sala, winner of the third edition of the SHEIN X Challenge.The budding British designer beat over 2,400 hopefuls from across Europe to win €10,000 to support her design projects and the opportunity for her work to be showcased by SHEIN.

Back in March, 25 finalists presented a panel of industry experts with three designs suitable for Spring/Summer 2023. After two days of mentoring and deliberation, the judges – including designers Julien Fournié and Colin Horgan, the International Director of Education at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome Adrien Roberts – chose Amy as the overall winner of the close-fought competition.The Manchester Fashion Institute graduate presented a bold collection inspired by Y2K, featuring pops of sheer colour and modern, loose silhouettes.

Her designs were praised for being wearable, contemporary, and considerate of different skin tones and shapes, making them accessible to everyone.

Amy’s chosen colour palette – a mix of pistachio and raspberry pastels – was also described by Fournié as “unprecedented,” proving her to be a promising emerging talent.
