Calling all dog lovers! Sign up to our TeamDogs newsletter for your weekly dose of dog news, pictures and stories A Wigan man has cycled 1,800 miles in memory of his rescue dog who died.

Joe Fielding, 30, chose the distance as it represents the length of the journey from the UK to Romania, where Romie was originally from.

Romie was described as 'full of life and the happiest dog ever' who loved being around friends and family. Joe and his fiancée Shelby adopted her at eight months old from Flori’s Friend Rescue, but after two years she died from a mystery illness.

He is now raising money on JustGiving for the organisation, in recognition of their work rehoming stray and abused dogs across Europe and the UK.
