Keely, from Atherton in Wigan, ran the competition in one minute and 55.88 seconds - beating out a record held by Kelly Holmes since 1995.

The British record for the 800m previously stood at one minute and 56.21 seconds and was achieved in Monte Carlo in September 1995.
