A widowed pensioner sent a heart-warming letter to his neighbours in south Manchester. The 75-year-old, who said he had recently moved to Acres Road in the leafy suburb, printed the note and posted it to those living nearby.

The letter, which was later shared to a social media group with his permission, saw the man reach out to his neighbours and ask if he could meet anyone with pet dogs and accompany them on a walk.

He said that he could not have pets due to living in a rental property, but that he 'very much misses canine contact' after previously homing rescue dogs with his late wife.

In the note, he then provided his mobile number and asked for those in the local area to reach out if they were interested, before apologising for the 'unsolicited note'.
