Who is swimmer Ellen Keane, Ireland’s Paralympic gold medal winner?

Ellen Keane has once again done the nation proud by claiming victory at the Tokyo Paralympics. Having previously brought home a bronze medal at the Rio games, Ellen swam the race of her life to win a gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke on Thursday morning.

And although only being 26-years-old, Ellen already has several impressive wins to her name having competed at the Beijing, London and Rio Paralympic games as well as scooping medals at other tournaments including the Para Swimming Championships.

Then again the swimming star has always been a fighter, here’s what we know about our sporting hero… Ellen who hails from Clontarf in Dublin was born missing her left arm from below the elbow, a condition known as Dysmelia.
