Viewers can expect beautiful winter scenery and fascinating footage of animals native to the UK. As always, the show will attempt to spot lots of different wildlife across the United Kingdom, including "animal antics" after dark in England, eagles and otters in Scotland, and winter waders in Northern Ireland. However, it is understood Gillian Burke will only be appearing in some pre-recorded footage this year. The Winterwatch official site offers viewers blogs on wildlife around the UK and access to live feeds from cameras at several locations.
Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan will be at Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk this year, Megan McCubbin spends her time at WWT (Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust) Castle Espie in Northern Ireland, and Iolo Williams will be on the Isle of Mull in Scotland.
