BBC Children in Need has been on our screens for over half a century, helping to raise money for young people. This year’s fundraising ideas include a BBC Breakfast ‘Drumathon’ where The BBC’s drumming weatherman, Owain Wyn Evans, will attempt to drum constantly for 24 hours. The first-ever televised appeal happened in 1955, and Sir Terry Wogan (who was involved in Children in Need for much of his professional career until his death in 2016) made his first appearance in 1978.
