Elizabeth II
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

It's felt like a long time coming but the countdown to Christmas will officially begin tonight with the return of the all-sparkling Strictly Come Dancing.

And the brand new group of celebrities have officially undergone their glitzy and glam makeovers ahead of the 2022 series. The hit BBC One show was set to return to screens last Saturday night (September 17).

However, the BBC took the decision to postpone. The start of the new series of the dance contest was hanging in the balance following the Queen's death and with the launch planned just two days before Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, which took place on Monday.

This year's Strictly journey will instead begin tonight, Friday, September 23, at 7pm with the launch show, which was pre-recorded earlier this month, and will see the celebrities found out their professional partners for the first time.
