It takes place every year in New York City. Usually, the Met Gala takes place in May, at least it had since 2005, but last year’s event was cancelled because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Instead of cancelling the occasion again or having it virtual, organisers decided to push back the annual 2021 gathering to September, and it took place last night.
