West Lothian school cluster celebrates digital technology success

The Armadale school cluster are celebrating after being recognised for their use of digital technology.Five primary schools along with Armadale Academy gathered at Southdale Primary School for a special celebration and were presented with their certificates by Greg Welsh, West Lothian Council’s head of education (primary, early learning and resources) and Geraldine Armstrong, the council’s quality pmprovement manager.The event was a celebration of the Armadale Cluster schools being one of the first in Scotland to be awarded the Cluster Digital Schools Award.Children and staff from every school involved attended, along with senior leaders from the council.The schools involved were: Armadale Primary School, Blackridge Primary School, Eastertoun Primary School, Southdale Primary School, Windyknowe Primary School and Armadale Academy.A delighted Siannon Ramsay, Acting Principal Teacher at Southdale Primary and Cluster Lead on the project, said: “We are delighted to be among the first in Scotland to achieve the Cluster Digital Schools Award.“It is an amazing achievement for all of the young people in the Armadale cluster and all the staff within our schools to be recognised for the outstanding work they do using digital technology to enhance learning and teaching.”She added: “We enjoyed a wonderful celebration event with all of the schools involved, with certificates given to children representing each school to mark the fantastic achievement.”In every school, the validators were impressed with how confident the pupils were in using digital skills to effectively support their learning.Pupil leaders and staff from all schools worked together to share ideas, visiting other schools in the cluster and holding online meetings to
