Weather experts have issued a 'danger to life' warning as very strong winds are set to arrive in Ayrshire later this week. The Met Office yellow alert is in place from Tuesday at 8pm until Wednesday at 9am.The majority of Ayrshire is within the impact area that weather boffins have drawn up but the likes of Girvan, Maybole and Dalmellington aren't included within the yellow zone. While gusts of 60mph are expected, winds up to 80mph could also make an appearance on Scotland's island communities. The Met Office warning reads: "A deep area of low pressure is expected to pass to the north of Scotland later on Tuesday, clearing away to the east during Wednesday."Whilst at this stage there is still some uncertainty regarding the onset of strongest winds and to what extent more populated areas of the Central Belt are also affected, this will bring a swathe of very strong winds to parts of Scotland."Gusts of 60 mph can be expected fairly widely, but there is potential for gusts as high as 80 mph, this most likely over the north of mainland Scotland, Lewis and Orkney."Met Office experts believe there is a danger to life from flying debris and large waves.Don't miss the latest Ayrshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
