It might not be the healthiest food around but most of us are guilty of sticking a pizza in the oven for an easy tea. And with bills rising, we're all looking for ways to keep our food costs down too.

That's why we decided to compare budget 10-inch pizzas from all the main supermarkets to see how they stack up. Buying a simple cheese pizza from each of the retailers was simple enough, with the exception of Sainsbury's, which doesn't sell a cheaper version in the fridge section. We decided to sample the cheese first, all of which are sold for just 99p and all of which weigh in at 300g, except for Morrisons', which is 270g.

As pizzas go they don't look that different, it was just Lidl that stood out more than anything for its wider strands of cheese.
