boygenius have released their long-awaited debut album, titled The Record, and to accompany it is a short film (The Film). The 15-minute short is directed by Kristen Stewart, best known for her roles in Spencer and Crimes of the Future.
The Film essentially stitches together videos for three The Record songs. The tracks, “$20,” “Emily I‘m Sorry,” and “True Blue,” were released earlier this year and are each led by the three members of boygenius; Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus.
Stewart films Baker as she carries out maintenance on an old car, Bridgers at a monster truck arena, and Dacus painting her apartment a shade of blue.
