Vin Scully has sadly passed away at the age of 95. The sports announcer, who was best known as the Voice of the Dodgers, died on Tuesday, August 2, the LA Dodgers confirmed on their social channels. “He was the voice of the Dodgers, and so much more,” the organization shared on Twitter. “He was their conscience, their poet laureate, capturing their beauty and chronicling their glory from Jackie Robinson to Sandy Koufax, Kirk Gibson to Clayton Kershaw.

Vin Scully was the heartbeat of the Dodgers — and in so many ways, the heartbeat of all of Los Angeles.” He is probably best known for his words during the 1988 World Series when Kirk Gibson hit a home run: “High fly ball into right field.

She is… gone!” In addition to being the Voice of the Dodgers, Vin was also known as a national announcer of baseball for NBC, football and golf for CBS and baseball for CBS Radio. Vin retired in 2016 at the age of 88.
