A violent thug who beat up his ex-girlfriend's new partner twice in just a matter of days was branded a 'coward' by a Bolton judge, but has avoided going to prison.

Thomas Foster, of Lodge Road in Atherton, carried out the spate of sneak attacks just days apart - first creeping up behind his former partner's new boyfriend to assault him in a pub, before sneaking into the new couple's bedroom 'in the middle of the night' and lunging at him while they slept.

The 34-year-old man had been with Amy Wardle for five years when they broke up at the end of 2018. The pair were raising their four-year-old child together at the time.
