Veteran striker Scott Milligan has left Threave Rovers. The forward, who has also had spells with Dalbeattie Star, Gretna 2008 and St Cuthbert Wanderers, has joined Dumfries Sunday league team Hole I’ The Wa.
And he bagged two goals for his new club against FC Annan on Sunday. Threave boss Vinnie Parker said: “He’s just a boy that absolutely loves his football.
He’s been a remarkable servant to the area. “Without a shadow of a doubt he could have played at a higher level, his ability was unquestionable. “He was maybe getting frustrated he wasn’t playing as much as he’d like. “He promised he’d spend a bit more time with his missus on a Saturday and I couldn’t stand in his way. “We tried to keep him until the end of the season but we couldn’t stand in his way, he was just wanting to go to play football on a Sunday.” The weather denied Threave playing their SFA South Region Challenge Cup game against Whitletts Victoria on Saturday as the Meadow Park surface was frozen.
That game will now be played on Wednesday night, a few days after Threave head to BSC Glasgow in the league. Parker came up against a club with the same name when he played in the Lowland League but the current outfit is very different.
