Students across the country will be settling back into university life as the new term begins. Greater Manchester is home to five universities, including the University of Salford.

Each year a new wave of freshers from the UK and abroad move to the region to study. Usually early arrivals are welcome to settle in before September's Induction Week gets started.

Then, students are eased into their new courses for 12 weeks before the arrival of a much-anticipated Christmas break. In the following leg of each academic year, students will enter the final two trimesters intertwined with vacation weeks and graduation day celebrations for those who have reached the end of their courses.
