UNIVERSITY Challenge viewers have all had the same complaint about an 'excruciating' round in the latest episode. The quarter-finals of the BBC show continued on Monday night and saw King’s College London take on Emmanuel College Cambridge.

One of the rounds was picture based and host Jeremy Paxman explained: “For your picture starter you’re going to see three countries marked on maps. “Each one has a tricolour flag, you need to work out the fourth country whose flag can be made by taking colours from the other three as indicated by arrows in the diagram.” The first picture with flags appeared and seemed to stump the teams as well as viewers, with Emmanuel eventually buzzing only to get it wrong.

King’s College then had a guess but were also incorrect however, they answered following question correctly and were given more questions on the subject to gain more points.

One involved the flags of Estonia, Yemen and Ivory Coast with the answer being that one of their colours then made up the flag of Armenia.
