The 24-year-old has played 23 times for the Whites in all competitions this season, scoring twice. He had been an ever present for much of the first half of the season when Wanderers lined up with a back three and the Irishman often played alongside Ricardo Almeida Santos and Alex Baptiste.
His last appearance for Bolton came on the road against Tranmere Rovers in mid-January, when he was dismissed after picking up two yellow cards against the Wirral side at Prenton
