U2 STAR Bono has revealed he has a secret half-brother who he only found out about as an adult. The singer, 62, said he first found out about his half-sibling in 2000 and has since made peace with the situation.

Bono explained that nobody in his family were aware of the half-brother, who he said he "loves and adores". This included the U2 legend's mother Iris who passed away when the singer was just 14 years old.

Speaking to Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio's Desert Island Discs, he said: "I do have another brother whom I love and adore that I didn’t know I had, or maybe I did. "My father was obviously going through a lot but partly his head was elsewhere because his heart was elsewhere. "So I think that was part of the problem I was picking up as a kid." The singer said he could tell his late father Bob had a "deep relationship" with his half-sibling's mother.

He explained: "It's a very close family and I could tell that my father had a deep friendship with this gorgeous woman who is part of the family and then they had a child and this was all kept a secret." Bono added that he has since made peace with the situation.
